Kampala, Uganda – 16 April 2025. Uganda’s sole representative at the 2025 Africa Club Championship are not heading to Libya just to make numbers but continue to build a legacy and a dream of one day playing at the FIVB Club World Championship.
The Continental event attracts Champions from across Africa and this year’s edition will be held in Misurata, Libya from 17-30 April 2025, the winner gains automatic qualification to the FIVB World Club Championship.
‘As Nemostars our goal is to one day play at the FIVB World Championship and consistent participation at the Continent offers us a better opportunity to achieve that now or in the future’. Coach Tom Amou said during the official send-off by the National Council of Sports Uganda.

Tom Amou has been part of all the 7 trips Nemostars has made to the Continent, in the previous editions, he has traveled as coach this time he will be making his ‘debut’ as Head Coach.
Nemostars have bolstered their squad with fast rising right attacker Mark Omara from UCU and 2021 Africa’s top scorer Daudi Okello.
Okello took a sabbatical to recover from a long season in 2024 and handle family matters.
“I am excited with the opportunity to again play at the African Club Championship, I last played in 2015 with KAVC, training has been good, and we hope for the best”. Said Daudi Okello. Okello played in the finals of the Asian Club Championship with Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi in 2023.

The stars return to the Continent for the 8th time having made the first trip in 2013 Tripoli Libya and the last being 2021.
Captain George Aporu is returning to a familiar territory; he has been part of all Nemostar’s trip and is not yet about to stop.

In 2019, Nemostars finished 6th on the Continent, best-ever finish for the three Ugandan teams that have participated at the Continent, Uganda Christian University and KAVC are the other teams who are yet to break into the quarterfinal brackets.
