Mr. Mich Drawn- President of Blackrock:
“We’re electrified about our Club’s August tour to Uganda – a bold venture that’s years in the making! Since our last official tour in 2001, we’ve been itching to get back out there. This trip is a reunion of sorts, revisiting East Africa for the first time since 1971, a journey that holds treasured memories for many of our members. With over 50 of us traveling across all teams, we’re bringing more than just our A-game – we’re bringing a piece of Ireland’s rugby heart. A key part of our mission is giving back; we’re partnering with Irish charities to run training sessions in local schools, donating gear to keep the next gen buzzing about rugby, and visiting a Ugandan prison to share hope and camaraderie with the inmates. We’ll also be honored guests at an official function at the Irish Embassy, underscoring the tour’s significance to our diplomatic friends in Uganda. None of this would be possible without the kindness of our sponsors, donors, and event supporters – we’re deeply grateful for their generosity. This tour is more than just a trip; it’s a testament to the power of community and rugby’s universal language.”
