Uganda Rugby 7s Captain Micheal Wokorach is not mincing any words a head of the Africa Rugby 7s this weekend.

Fourteen Countries are in Kampala for the 2022 Rugby Africa Men’s Sevens that will be played from April 23-24 at Kyadondo Rugby Club.

“This is a top event and a big tournament for us, we are going to display some good rugby this weekend”. Wokorach told Wan Luo TV

Uganda Rugby 7s have been in camp for the last three weeks, they also had training camp in Cape Town last month ahead of this tournament.

“Fans should expect a lot from us. We have won this before and we are going to put our bodies on the line”. A buoyant Wokorach added.

The Rugby Africa Men’s Sevens has been held across the African continent annually since 2013, however, it is three years since the most recent event due to the COVID-19 pandemic that shut down sporting activity globally.

Kenya were crowned champions after a dominant display in the main cup final against Uganda. They won 29-00 to earn automatic qualification to the 2022 Tokyo Summer Olympic Games. Zimbabwe beat Madagascar, 24-07, in the third-place playoff match to collect bronze.

“Kenya in the world series and Zimbabwe will be a tough team to crack, but we will try and do the right things to win the tournament.” Wokorach concluded

Only four nations have won this title since its inception at the start of the new millennium; Zimbabwe, Kenya, South Africa and Uganda.
