Vipers SC have been crowned League champions with 74 points as the Uganda Premier League officially came to an end with all teams playing their match day 30 of the calendar year.

The champions surely gave Tony Mawejje a hard last dance when Milton Kariisa scored the first goal of the day, 6 minutes after kick off that gave Vipers a lead advantage at home in a packed St Mary's stadium. All hell went lose in the second stanza as Bobosi Byaruhanga attempted a shot from his half only to hit the cross bar bouncing back to Milton Kariisa who scored his second goal sending the venoms into a frenzy and extending their lead against the cops.

Bobosi intercepted a ball and made a sublime run from the center circle straight into the 18 yard box for a one on one with police goalie Tom Ikara scoring a decider to make the scoreboard 3-0.

Clearly, it looked like the visitors could do nothing about it as the midfielder further suffocated their defence beating police’s Tom Ikara for the second time to score a brace that completely shuttered police’s hopes for a comeback.

At 90″, Yunus Sentamu joined the list of scorers before the center referee seperated the two sides.

Bobosi Byaruhanga was named player of the match as the Kitende outfit was handed the StarTimes Uganda Premier League trophy by FUFA President Eng Hassim Moses Magogo amidst a display of fireworks in the sky and chanting vuvuzelas. A real champions evening.

Midfield maestro Tonny Mawejje was accorded a standing ovation at 6 minutes into play time and also awarded a plaque from FUFA.

The skipper was appreciated for a worthwhile career at both club and National level. He now retires from competitive football with little known about his next move.

Tonny Mawejje finally had his boots hang before the final whistle as he paved way for Arthur Kiberu in substitution.

URA’s Cromwell Rwothomio bagged a hattrick as the tax collectors beat Tooro United 7-0 at home in Buhinga stadium to settle for a third place with 55 points.

KCCA finished second on the log, one point ahead of URA despite a 1-0 defeat against wakiso giants in their last game of the season at Lugogo.

Police FC, Mbarara City and Tooro United head to the second division as the Super league welcomes Blacks powers, Maroons and Kyetume FC.

In an upcoming game, vipers SC will yet again face off with Busoga’s BUIL FC in another final of the Stanbic Uganda cup.

The two sides met last year on the same stage when BUL suffered a humiliating 8-1 defeat at the FUFA technical center in Njeru.

BUL FC are fourth on the log and ended their season with a 1-0 win against SC Villa. What does that mean? 12th June is the date in Masindi.
