Defending Champions Vipers have made a big statement of intent with a 2-1 away win to rivals KCCA FC in Lugogo.
Twenty Six minutes into the game, Congolese born Cesar Lobi Manzoki sent vipers’ fans into a frenzy with a beautiful header into the KCCA net.
The goal levelled scores with home team KCCA whose goal came earlier in the first six minutes through defender Denis Iguma.
But Forward Milton Kariisa’s goal in the second half silenced the fully packed Philip Omondi Stadium to hand Vipers SC a vital win of the campaign.
Vipers assistant coach Marcelo Cardoso revealed they waited for their moments to utilise.
“It was a tough match, we conceded first but we stayed focused and got the equalizer and the winning goal.” Vipers Assistant Coach Marcelo Cardoso said.
With 3-points from the game, the St Mary’s Kitende side are 12 points ahead of second placed KCCA FC with 46-points.
Vipers, just like KCCA still have 18-points to fight for from the remaining 6 games.
“We need to have players for the big games like this one. We had chances which needed finishing off but failed to utilise.” KCCA’s Head Coach Morley Byekwaso said.
For Vipers, they need only 6-points to be declared Champions of the Uganda Premier League 2021/22
Brazilian Roberto Oliveira’s quest for a second straight title in the Uganda Premier league is now on course since joining Vipers SC in 2020 when he won his first as head coach.
