Vipers SC emerged victorious in a thrilling final day showdown to be crowned champions of the 2022/23 StarTimes Uganda Premier League.

The Kitende-based club showcased their dominance with a resounding 5-0 victory over Busoga UTD Football Club, securing their sixth league title in a grand manner, two in a row.
Heading into the crucial encounter, Vipers SC found themselves in second place on the league table, trailing sc Villa by two points but ahead on goal difference against KCCA FC.
It was a must-win situation for the venoms, and they rose to the occasion with a stellar performance that left no room for doubt.
From the opening whistle, Vipers SC displayed their intent, attacking relentlessly and asserting their authority over Busoga UTD.
The match witnessed a flurry of goals, with Abubaker Lawal leading the charge by netting two spectacular strikes.
Yunus Sentamu and Martin Kiiza also made their mark on the scoresheet, while Bright Anukani added to the tally, completing a comprehensive victory for the triumphant side.
The result had significant implications for sc Villa and KCCA FC, who had their own title aspirations on the line.
A win for sc Villa against URA would have seen them lift the league trophy for the first time since 2004. Meanwhile, KCCA FC faced the daunting task of scoring more goals than Vipers on this crucial match day.
Unfortunately for both clubs, Vipers’ dominant display left no room for hope, and their dreams of clinching the title were shattered.
The success of Vipers SC was further elevated by the significant contributions of their head coach, Alex Isabirye.
Taking charge midway through the season after his tenure at Bidco’s BUL FC, Isabirye swiftly established his influence and guided the team to a glorious triumph.
Replacing Beto Bianchi, Isabirye orchestrated an impressive run that culminated in lifting the premier league trophy, marking a remarkable debut season for the young coach.
The league title win holds significant importance for Vipers SC, as it ensures their return to the continental stage in the CAF Champions League.
With the opportunity to lead the team from the start, Isabirye will be eager to showcase his tactical prowess and guide Vipers SC to even greater success on the African stage.
In other results from the final match day of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League, Arua Hills SC secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Wakiso Giants Football Club.
