The team is very ready because we are like the wounded lions and since we are playing a stronger opponent, it gives us an opportunity to redeem our ranking that dropped.

The Victoria pearls are set to face off with Nepal women side in an international match at the Tribhuvan university international cricket ground in Nepal.

The double will play five-matches in the women’s T20 international series (5 T20I) with games scheduled from 16th to 21st of May.

The week long tour in Nepal will be the Uganda ladies’ second international event this year and will also see the side attempt to revive its glory after a devastating performance in Namibia barely a week ago in the Capricorn tri series.

Stakes are high as both Nepal and Uganda lie not so far from each other in the ICC rankings.16th and 21st respectively after Uganda dropped from 19th in the Namibian campaign.

“In Namibia we had a tough performance but it was a good battle we didn’t lose it all. We played well when it came to balling and fielding. We did our best. The batting department was a bit on the back foot but we came back and adjusted because it’s a process.” Consy Nimungu Aweko recalled at the team’s flagging off in kampala.

“The team is very ready because we are like the wounded lions and since we are playing a stronger opponent, it gives us an opportunity to redeem our ranking that dropped. It’s never over until it’s done.” The captain further revealed.

This is the second time Aweko Consy is captaining for the Victoria pearls and a win from this tour means a lot to her as a career cricketer.

A fourteen woman sqaud was flagged off with Sarah Walaza and Franklin Najjumba added to the team that travelled to Namibia replacing Jimia Mohammad and Naomi Kayondo.

“We have worked on our batting since it costed us alot in Namibia. We have made changes to our sqaud and I want to win atleast three games in Nepal to boost our ranking to 18 or 19.” Head Coach Laurence Ssematimba
