The 2023 National edition was unveiled on Wednesday in Kampala with Nile Breweries committing over $90,000 ( Ugx.340,000, 00) in a one-year partnership.

The national event was last held in 2018 when Mansoor Bwanika beat Simon Lubulwa in the men’s category, while Ritah Namusiima made light work off Rashidah Muteesi, to win a car each.

This will be the 11th edition for the men while the ladies will only partake of the 2nd edition.

“We had done ten years consecutively before the five-year break, but we’re now back to support the sport that has given us unquestionable mileage in the past”. Said Douglas Kalema, the National Events and Asset Manager of Nile Special.

President of the Pool Association of Uganda, Bob Trubish is a relieved man having dug into his personal savings to keep pool activities in the country afloat.

“The direct investment this time round is shs.340 million that will be injected into the tournament, and this will go into organization, promotions, and prize monies,” Trubish said.

The top eight and four seeds in the men’s and women’ league log are  given a bye to the final.

The nation wide qualifiers starts on 24th June and over 128 men and 32 ladies will play in the finals.

The winners of both categories will walk away with trophies and vehicles while, runners up will walk away with a pool table each on the final day – 11th November in Lugogo.
