A&B, Namirembe, KBC, Zana and East Coast Boxing Clubs have sought the intervention of the Uganda Courts of law in Kampala against the Uganda Boxing Federation and its President Moses Muhangi.

The four clubs through Natweeta & Co Advocates have sought injunctions on a number of issues.

“The plaintiffs brings this cause to action to seek permanent injunction restraining the President of the federation from organizing elections under the new constitution, an order to quash the new constitution, injunction restraining further contravention of the constitution, an order restraining the old constitution cost and general damages.  A declaration that actions and omission heading to the amendments of the constitution were illegal and that the constitutions was unlawfully and illegally amended”. Read part of a document sent to Uganda Boxing Federation.

An affidavit brought by owner of A&B Boxing Club Acram Iga against Uganda Boxing Federation and its President Moses Muhangi shall also be read on the first sitting set for 28th February 2022 at the Civil Division of the High Court in Kampala.

Moses Muhangi was declared unopposed in January after no one challenged him for the presidency.

Bruno Sserunkuuma the returning officer for UBF elections on January 15th 2022 confirmed the closure of the nomination deadline that saw Muhangi and his top executive members return unopposed for a 4-year tenure 2022 -2026.

A section of the affiliates shunned the election citing illegal amendment of the constitution especially prior to the elections.

In the past, 15 lawsuits have been unsuccessfully brought against the Moses Muhangi led Uganda Boxing Federation, this will be the 16th.

“My team will present a defense and allow court to look through within the required 14-days.” Said Moses Muhangi.

Uganda Boxing Federation has 47 registered affiliates and another 10 provisionally registered ones.
