In a historic visit to Uganda, UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin has left a lasting impact on the local community.
The visit was centered around the Aliguma foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering disadvantaged communities in Uganda, particularly women and children.
The UEFA President’s visit was met with great enthusiasm, and it was seen as a symbol of hope and love not just for Uganda but for the entire African continent.
During his visit, Čeferin had the opportunity to interact with the local community, engaging in various activities such as playing football with young children and visiting community groups.
At the Acholi Quarters, a slum on the outskirts of Kampala, Čeferin witnessed firsthand the hardships faced by the residents of the slum.
He was taken on a tour of the Aliguma Foundation’s various projects, which include a sports facility and small-scale startups.
The sports facility at Acholi Quarters was a highlight of the visit for Čeferin, who watched several friendly football matches among school-going children.
He was impressed by the level of talent on display and promised to support the development of sports in the slum.
Speaking to the media, Čeferin emphasized the importance of using football as a tool for social change and highlighted UEFA’s commitment to promoting equality and inclusion in the sport.
He expressed his admiration for the work of the Aliguma Foundation and his commitment to supporting initiatives that empower communities in Africa.
“This is amazing; it is an emotional experience as it helps us to know what real life feels like. I am really grateful to Rita and the Foundation. Our foundation for children is supporting the Aliguma Foundation, so I decided to come and see what exactly is happening here in Uganda in regards to development.”
The visit was a powerful reminder of the importance of philanthropy and the need to support communities in need.
Čeferin’s commitment to supporting the Aliguma Foundation is a testament to his dedication to making a difference in the lives of children around the world.
It is also a reminder that, even in the midst of difficult circumstances, hope and love can still prevail, and that every individual has the power to make a difference in their community.
Aliguma expressed gratitude for the visit and its significance before praising it as a message of love and hope for the community and an inspiration to young people.
“We are very grateful for having hosted the UEFA president in this community in Uganda. It means a lot not only to Uganda but Africa at large. But most importantly, his visit to the community is a message of love and hope to this community. It’s a big inspiration, and I’m sure many young people are inspired because of his visit,” Aliguma said.
The impact of Čeferin’s visit is sure to be felt for years to come, as the local community continues to draw inspiration from his message of hope and love.
