Uganda Crested Cranes defeated Tanzania’s Twiga Stars 3-1in an international friendly game played on Friday at the Phillip Omondi Stadium.

Clement Oppa headed the visitors into an early lead ( 2nd minute) past Crested Cranes Goalkeeper and Captain Ruth Aturo from a close range.

Debutant Catherine Nagadya leveled matters before the stroke of halftime.

Fauzia Najjemba and substitute Margret Kunihira sealed it for Uganda in the second half with a goal each.

‘I am happy with the way the girls played, we are a young team and we hope to keep improving in all departments’. Said Shime Bakari, Twiga Stars’ Head coach

Both the Crested Cranes and Twiga Stars are preparing for their respective Women’s Olympic Football Tournament Qualifiers.

‘We need to clean up our defense and final third, but I am happy with the way the girls reacted after going down with an early goal’. Said Ayub Khalifa Kiyingi, Crested Cranes’ Coach

The Crested Cranes will host Rwanda on 12th July at Pele Stadium in Kigali before a return leg six days later at the same venue.
