Uganda’s Thomas Khedi stormed the final of the Beach World Cup after 3-1 in the tightly contested Fairway semifinal at the Laem Charoen Beach Thailand.
The Uganda team skipper started off the journey this morning with 2-1 victory over Thailand star Namjumpa Kittakan who is ranked the world’s number two in another mouth-watering quarterfinal.
He then went on to thrash Kwok Ho long of Hong Kong in the semifinal 3-1 to book a final against Thailand’s Chaisongkram Peera who is defending champion.
Khedi was excited about beating the two highly ranked stars and added that the victory is a big motivation to him as he heads into the final.
“It is good we are in the final and we are going to the bull by the horn. He is the defending champion, but I do not want to know because I will focus on my game with the agenda of winning a gold,” Khedi said.
In the women’s category Jackie Naula and Christine Birungi stormed the semi-final of the women’s doubles after a 3-1 win over the Hongkong opponents and will face the winner between hosts Thailand and Indonesia later today.

Coach Onesimus Atamba was also excited with the results saying that his players are capable of winning medals for Uganda.
“I’m so happy with the performance of the team. We started on a slow note because of the rains, but today they picked up and adapted to the weather so fast giving us good results,” Atamba said.
In the doubles men Uganda pair of Thomas Khedi and Giles Amanyire beat Hong-Kong 3_0 but lost to Indonesia 2-1 in the quarterfinals.
Meanwhile all players are still waiting for the results of the stroke category to see who qualified to the final round.
