Ludo President Kalule disgruntled by uneven support from NCS

The Uganda Ludo National team (Uganda Doves) could miss out on two major calendar tournaments owing to a lack of funds.

Last week, the Federation almost withdrew the national team from the 2022 Africa Ludo Championship but held back their decision with hope that the National Council of Sports would come through with a cash deliverance.

The competition is set to commence on the 24th and run till the 28th of September in Pretoria South Africa.

According to the Uganda Ludo Federation President Kalule Hussein, the team will need close to 100 million Uganda shillings if they are to set off for the campaign.

“We have won all Ludo competitions that we have participated in even on the international level and we have always flown the Uganda flag high but we are always neglected when it comes to the support from NCS and government, ” Kalule expressed his discontent.

“We wrote to the Minister and he directed us to the NCS General Secretary who said the government hasn’t released the money, yet we are days away from the dicing off of the tournament.”

“We managed to secure Visa ‘s but we need about 100 million shillings to travel to South Africa and defend our title.”

“If we fail to participate at the 2022 Africa Ludo Individual Championship that’s an automatic disqualification from the 2022 Ludo World Cup that will take place in November in Nepal and we shall be replaced by Ivory Coast.”

A disgruntled Kalule also said oftentimes his federation has been sidelined when it comes to support from the government despite the glory fetched by ludo teams in the numerous tournaments they have represented the country at.

The Uganda Doves are reigning champions of the Africa championship, and are currently in a residential camp at Kavumba, awaiting their fate.
