Middle blocker Stéphanie Fotso Mogoung has retired from the Cameroun women’s national team.

Mogoung was part of the Cameroonian national team at the 2014 FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship in Italy and at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

She has also played for FAP in the Cameroon National Volleyball league.

The Volleyball Club Harnes star announced this morning in a dossier to her fans.

I officially announce my international retirement as of this day.

“After a long thought, I have decided to no longer continue the adventure with the selection.

As you can imagine, this is one of the hardest and most important decisions I’ve ever made in my life because defending the colors of our country has been an honor for me. I have always done it with love, passion and dedication because this is probably the most important step for a high level athlete.

In the absence of the status of the athlete and the high-level coach that is difficult to see in our country, we are forced to find time to better prepare for our re-conversions after our different sporting careers.

So I need to make time for my projects. I also need to dedicate more time to the people I love and because of the chain of international competitions since 2014, I have only seen them very few.

My departure will also allow to leave room for this new generation that will need playtime to gain high level experience during the various international competitions our country will participate in a couple of months.

Dear public, supporters of Lions and indomitable Lions, I would like to thank you once again for the unwavering, immeasurable and indescribable support you have always shown us. Mostly for all the moments of joy after our CAN2017 victories in Yaoundé, CAN2019 in Egypt and CAN2021 in Rwanda.

Thank you for having us “surviving up to the sky” ⛅.

To you the administrative officials of the Fecavolley, my coaches and physical trainers, the medical staff and my teammates, thank you for these moments of hard work, sweat, joy and madness spent in the barn . . I wish each and every one of you health and success so that you may continue to wear the colors of our wonderful country very high.

I wish I could have continued the adventure with you, but in life, you have to make choices. I do mine with a clear conscience, with the feeling of duty accomplished.

Of course it is with some sadness but especially without regret. All the emotions shared with you will remain engraved forever. We have written one of the most beautiful pages of Cameroonian sport we should be proud of it. It’s a shame that we’re not recognized for our just worth.

I will always be available to share my experience but in the meantime I will miss you.”
