As the 12th edition of the East Africa University games gets closer to its commencement on the 16th of December, the host University -Ndejje- on Thursday held a pre-games symposium at the Imperial Royal Hotel in Kampala where they came together with the several University Heads of Delegation, as a precursor to the competitions.
Run on the theme “Be Exceptional”, this year’s edition is slated to take place from the 16th to the 20th of December at the Ndejje main Campus in Luwero Bombo, and will be home to thousands of sportsmen and women for the declared four days.
Delegates from the participating Universities already seem to have been impressed by the start-up preparations and now grip high expectations for the host -Ndejje- who will be hosting a regional tourney for the first time.
Kyambogo University’s George Wabugo, a Sports Tutor, and a Technical Director at Association of Uganda University Sports (AUUS), had this to say after the event.

“The symposium was a very good piece that was set by Ndejje University, we get to share a lot of experiences and share new ideas about how we manage our sports in Universities as well as how we manage different sports events. We get to meet face to face with experienced administrators in sport and academics who give us an insight into how we can better ourselves and manage sport for the students at the University.”
“I think these are going to be the biggest University games we have had in East Africa. Not a lot of activities have been organized for the University students after the pandemic and I think this is going to be the first in the region, and I expect a big number of participants this year.”
In addition to his experience at the Symposium, Nick Ongeri, a Sports Director at Strathmore University in Kenya told Afrosports about his expectations from the organizers, in the forthcoming games.

“The event has been good and educative, listening to other presenters, you get to learn from each other. The organizers have done a good job, and we are happy they have assured us of a good event come December.
Strathmore is one of the best Universities in Kenyan Sport, providing scholarships to sportsmen and women, with many from the institution making it into the top-flight leagues in the land.
“I hope the organizers put up a seamless event like we don’t want to see small mistakes that could be avoided since they have enough time to prepare for December. Top-notch grounds, and commendable match officials, make sure the games are fair to everyone.
“We don’t mind losing, but losing in a fairway.”
The Executive Committee of the Federation of Eastern Africa University Sports (FEAUS) on Wednesday, met with members of the Local Organizing Committee and received an update on the level of preparation.
Today -Friday-, guests from the different Universities will pay a courtesy visit to the host’s main campus, to inspect the facilities.
