Olympian, Catherine “The Silent Beast” Nanziri did not deliver the promised knock out but went on to win 60-54,60-54 and 60-54 against Tanzanian Sadra Muhamed in a non-title super flyweight contest held in Kampala.
Having kept Nanziri at bay the whole night, especially after bleeding from a left hook in the first round, the 18-year-old has now boldly asked for a rematch in Tanzania.
“There is no doubt I have been a hard nut for Nanziri, I am ready to face her in a rematch in Tanzania”. Said a buoyant Sadra Muhamed after the six round fight that ended at 3am in Bulega, a Kampala suburb.
Nanziri, Uganda’s first female Olympian had stopped another Tanzanian Husina Saydi Zamba in under 30 Seconds in her debut professional fight in April this year.
“I wanted a knock out but my opponent was so defensive and calculative in throwing her punches, I am happy with the win and will get back to the drawing board”. Said Nanziri.
It is Nanziri’s second victory in the paid ranks following her first-round stoppage of another Tanzanian during her professional debut.
Nanziri is also the first Woman in Uganda to headline a fight night that had other undercards.
In the other fights, Stanley ‘The boxing Santa’ Mugerwa defeated Tom Muwanguzi in the super welterweight fourth-round technical knockout while no nonsense Joshua Male made a meal out of Saidi Khako in the heavyweight category.
The fights were organized by A&B Promotions under the Campaign Survival Series.
