Profile: Who is Geoffrey Omondi?

Nairobi, Kenya – 30th March 2025 | Kenya Volleyball Federation recently announced Geffrey Omondi as head Coach of the Senior Women’s National team.

Omondi’s task will be to steer Malkia Strikers during the FIVB Women’s World Championship 2025 from Fri, Aug 22, 2025 – Sun, Sep 7, 2025, in Thailand.

Kenya is inPool Galongside Poland, Germany and Vietnam.

But who is Geoffrey Omondi?

Omondi is best described as a dedicated and experienced volleyball coach with a strong background as both a player and mentor.

With over two decades of playing and coaching at high levels, he has significantly contributed to the development of elite volleyball teams in Kenya.

Omondi possess a proven ability to develop strategic game plans, mentor players, and lead teams to success, he has been handling the Kenya National U-18 Youth team. Passionate about fostering talent and driving teams to excellence at both national and club levels.

2019 – 2024:  Trailblazers Men’s Team (Coach)

2024: Under-18 Boys National Team (Coach)

September 2024 – Present:  Kenya Pipeline Ladies Team (Head Coach)

League: Consistently secured 2nd and 3rd positions over the years.

Africa: Achieved 4th, 5th, and 6th place finishes in various competitions.

As a Coach:

Co-op Bank Men’s Team Playoffs:

2014: 4th Place

2017: 3rd Place

2015: Led Kenya Men’s National Team to 2nd place in Zone AAG qualifiers (Rwanda) and 6th place in World Championship qualifiers (Cairo).

2020: Guided Trailblazers to 3rd place in the league.

About the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship 2025

The FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship 2025 will be the first edition of the tournament hosted in Thailand, with matches taking place across four vibrant cities: Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket and Nakhon Ratchasima, from 22 August to 7 September. The capital, Bangkok, will host the highly anticipated elimination rounds, ensuring electrifying matchups in front of an energetic home crowd.

Pool B: Italy, Belgium, Cuba, Slovakia in Phuket
Pool C: Brazil, Puerto Rico, France, Greece in Chiang Mai
