Abuja Nigeria, April 5, 2025 – Kenya Pipeline, Al Ahly (Egypt), Zamalek (Egypt) are all through to the round of 16 at the CAVB Women’s African Club Championship in Abuja Nigeria as table leaders.
The trio have won all their two games with another game in hand collecting maximum points that has guaranteed them a place in the quarterfinals.
Rwanda’s APR Volleyball Club were shocked by Cameroonian side Mayo Kano Evolutions 3-1 on day two.
Prisons register first win, after day one setback

Kenya Prisons recovered from their 3-0 loss to Zamalek to beat Spiking Stars 3-0 (25-9, 25-15, 25-16) to register first win in Pool B
Prisons got off to a cracking start. It was aggressive play with both teams going for block outs. Prisons had the better side as they continued to block outs debutant Spiking Stars . The won the 1st set 25-9.
Prisons maintained their momentum in the 2nd set. They continued to find a gap between the blocks. Spiking Stars looked flat. Miscommunication lost them another point and Prisons took advantage to nail the set 25-15.
Prisons aware of the importance of wining game number two, settle for no error as they killed the game 25-16.
Huge win for Mayo Kane Evolution against APR

Mayo Kane Evolution of Cameroun shocked consistent championship outfit APR 3-1 (19-25, 25-19, 25-21, 25-19) to register their first win after losing 3-0 to NCS on day one.
MKE came from behind to earned a famous victory against a team that always resist, with far more experience in the championship.
APR took the first point and a number of errors from MKE put APR firmly in front. APR led 15-10 and MKE who had little answers were put out of their misery when APR closed the set 25-19. MKE regrouped themselves to picked up with good blocks and level the matters 25-18.
APR were in trouble in the ensuing sets again as MKE pushed on confidently to counter APR spikes and there were good pickups from both teams as they fought for the last few points. APR made a late comeback but, in the end, it was a clean 3-1 sweep, the last set 25-21 to MKE.

Kenya Pipeline contained pressure to avoid a setback after nearly falling short, however regrouped to beat a Litto team 3-1 (25-20, 25-18, 23-25, 25-21) to secured second win in the championship.
There were series of beautiful rallies as players attacked from the serve, all racking up points.
It was much closer in the beginning of the 2nd set. LTV came out narrowly on top. Quick attacks and well-crafted blocks helped KPC draw level. KPC pulled ahead 17-13. A monster block from LTV showed their fighting spirit, but KPC closed the set out 25-18.
LTV piled on the pressure and KPC seemed to run out of steam, good spiking and an ace helped give LTV an 14-7 lead, LTV was on fire and an unfortunate KPC fault at the end of the set gives LTV the win in the third set 25-23.
KPC stormed out of the gate, thanks to some very strong servings. Knowing what is on stake, KPC sealed it at 25-21.
Kenya Commercial Bank overpowers Senegal’s Sococim

KCB secured a comfortable win against Sococim to reaffirmed their position in the championship, beating them 3-0 (25-20, 25-18, 25-21).
KCB scored the first three points to cement an early lead. SOC came back and narrowed the gap. Every point KCB scored brought a deafening thunder. Clever tips and angled spikes kept the points coming for the 2022 winners, as they killed it at 25-20.
Excellent defensive work from both teams kept the rallies going. At 15-15 it became point for point trades and then KCB broke free for two set points, to win it 25-18.
These teams were so close. Again it was point for point trading of spikes and tips. A number of SOC hitting faults gave KCB the advantage. SOC were straight back in the set after two KCB hitting faults. It was 18 all, then two more points and it was deafening as KCB win 25-21.
Defending champions puts resolute defend to overpower CNS

Zamalek beat Chief Naval Staff of Nigeria in a straight set 3-0 (25-14, 25-20, 25-16) to lead proceedings in the championship and remain unbeaten thus far.
ZMK quickly demonstrated why they are the top African side with superb control of the ball, skilful touches and driving spikes when required. They got off to a slow start with a few mis-hits, but then started scoring to raced ahead to take the set 25-14.
ZMK started the 2nd set with a series of quick point losses and they looked fairly glum. Highlights of the next few points included a deliberate serve and counter-block combination. CNS closed the gap slightly to trail 17-15. ZMK recovered to claim the set with a mega spike 25-20.
CNS were struggling in the third set. They had little effect to the score line. ZMK gained from a couple of CNS faults and an ace and then fed the ball for the match point, a super spike! ZMK won 25-16.
Ahly claim victory over VC La Loi

Record championship holders Al Ahly of Egypt made it two out of two following their 3-0 (25-7, 25-11, 25-20) win over La Loi of Congo DR.
AHL looked to solidify their spot top pool C, and did so convincingly in their match against VLL. AHL started out in style, with serving some balls that VLL had difficulty controlling. Despite some spirited and quality defence and some incredible rallies, VLL could not prevent AHL from building a solid 1st set lead at 25-7.
VLL tried to chip away at AHL’s lead, with some great serving but AHL’s attack was too strong and maintained their lead at 25-11 in the second set.
In the third set VLL was the team to storm out of the gate! Some amazing rallies – back and forth, attack, dig, However AHL is never a team to fold, and they started to chip away, eventually wining the set 25-20, and 3-0 on scores.
Police secure win, after prior setback

Police of Rwanda recovered from their match day one set back to convincingly beat Descartes 3-0 (25-19-, 25-11, 25-14) to cement their position for progress.
PVC took an early lead and dominated for the first set with some strong hitting for a 25-19 win.
OMD came back fighting in the second set. They showed good structured play and defence, but PVC eventually outplayed to win the second set 25-11.
The Rwandans shows their versatility and blocking strength to keep the Ivorians from gaining any real traction in the 3rd set, PVC maintained their authority in the 3rd set finding gaps in their opponent’s defence winning 25-14.
CFC silence home crowd with a win over host

CFC put an absolute fight to beat host Customs 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-14)
CFC faced tough challenge from NCS. The crowd, though, had already adopted the NCS women in this match, even before the first ball was played! Of course, the fans cheered for all great plays by both teams, but it was clear whose side they were on. After a tough battle CFC ran away with first set 25-18.
Set two saw much of the same from both teams – CFC dominating, and some good playing actions from NCS, but not enough from the host to get beyond nineteen points for the set. CFC win 25-19.
NCS showed their determination in the 3rd set taking some critical points, much to the crowd’s delight. This match had the best support of the day with an exciting crowd. They loved every minute of the match as CFC sealed it 25-14
