New Coach at KCCA Sergio Daniel Moniz Traguil has no time to waste after being unveiled to the media today (Friday) in Kampala-Uganda.

The Portuguese has already spent sleepless nights trying to wrap his head around the operations at the 13-time Uganda Premier League Champions.

“My immediate task is to ensure we have a successful preseason; this will involve physical conditions and games both within and outside the country”. Said Sergio

Sergio, with his nomadic attitude signed a 2-years Contract and was quick to clear the table in regard to his stay at the Club.

“I am a very straight forward coach, the moment I feel uncomfortable in the job, I quit”. Said Sergio who has coached at six different clubs on the continent since 2012.

A strong believer in youth football, Sergio has set his sight on the KCCA FC youth team as a start to his journey at the cub. We gather he has requested to take a candid look at all academy players before embarking on structuring the senior team.

KCCA FC last won a major trophy 4-years ago, finished second in the 2022\23 Uganda Premier League and qualified to represent Uganda at the CAF Confederation Cup.

The Former Benfica Youth Team Coach will have to get the wheels running pretty fast with the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary rounds coming up between 20th-29th October 2023.

“Our target for Sergio is not to win a title in the first year, he is here to re-organize the club, trophies will come as a bonus”. Said KCCA FC Chairman Martin Ssekajja.

Sergio replaced Jackson Mayanja who worked on an interim basis for a month (between April -May) after the resignation of Morley Byekwaso.
Morley Byekwaso resigned in April sighting player power at the Club, a bulk of the senior team players are in talks to renew their employment contract, how Sergio deals with the player power will set a tone for his stay at Lugogo.

Sergio has previously coached at Hearts of Oak (Ghana), Singida Big Stars (Tanzania), CD Luanda Sul (Angola), Vilankulos (Mozambique), Mirbat SC (Oman), Kabuscorp SC (Angola) and Township Rollers (Botswana) among others
