Sunday NVL PLAYOFFS

Serie A Women
Ndejje vs KCCA: 3-1 (15-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-15)

Serie B Men
Elyon vs Police: 3-2 (20-25, 17-25, 25-14, 25-18, 20-18)

Serie B Women
UPDF vs KU: 3-1 (25-21, 19-25, 25-16, 25-21)

Title holders Ndejje Elites have taken a crucial step towards securing a place in the final of the 2022/23 women’s Serie A after winning the first meeting of the playoffs against KCCA in a game played today at the old Kampala Arena.

The first set started with Ndejje getting the first point, but KCCA quickly responded to level the score. KCCA’s strong block gave them a five-point lead, which they maintained throughout the set, winning it 25-16.

However, Ndejje bounced back in the second set, taking an early lead and extending it to three points. KCCA managed to close the gap, but Ndejje held on to win the set 25-23.

Ndejje continued their dominance in the third and fourth sets, winning both convincingly with scores of 25-21 and 25-15, respectively.

Catherine Ainembabazi was instrumental in Ndejje’s victory, with her power attacks proving too much for KCCA’s defense to handle. Despite KCCA’s best efforts, they were unable to mount a comeback, and Ndejje sealed the win in four sets.

Ndejje’s victory puts them in a strong position going into the second game of the playoffs. If they win, they will automatically advance to the final, but if KCCA win, both teams will play a third game to determine who goes through.

The playoffs are a chance for both teams to make amends for their semi-final defeats in the 2019 season. KCCA lost to KCB Nkumba in the final, while Ndejje were knocked out by KCCA in the semi-finals.

The second game of the playoffs promises to be a thrilling encounter, as both teams fight for a place in the final.
