The 12th edition of the Kenya Inter-County Sports and Cultural Association (KICOSCA) Games is underway in Siaya County and the volleyball action has already produced major surprises.
In the men’s semifinals, Nakuru County, guided by Daniel Matheri and last year’s 1st runners-up, came from a set down to edge Kakamega County in a thrilling five-set clash 3-2 (25-22, 18-25, 25-22, 21-25, 15-11). Kakamega, coached by Luke Makuto of the Kenya Airport Police Unit (KAPU) and Wafalme U20, will now face Uasin Gishu County in the third-place playoff.
In the other semifinal, defending champions Uasin Gishu County were stunned by Kiambu County, who secured a 3-1 victory to book their place in the final against Nakuru.

Coach Daniel Matheri praised his team for staying focused and adjusting to Kakamega’s tactics. He said the main goal is to win the Siaya edition but noted that backcourt defence still needs improvement. To fans, he added confidently, “Get ready because we are bringing the trophy home.”

With the finals set between Nakuru County and Kiambu County, volleyball fans in Siaya can expect an exciting showdown as both teams aim for the coveted KICOSCA title after witnessing the semifinals filled with upsets
