Nairobi, Kenya – March 27th, 2025 | Six-time African champions Kenya Pipeline have been flagged off for the 2025 Women’s African Club Championship in Abuja, Nigeria (April 1–14, 2025). The team is set to jet off on 1st April at 3am as they embark on their quest to reclaim continental dominance.

Kenya Pipeline Managing Director Joe Sang led the send-off, reaffirming the company’s commitment to supporting the team as they aim to break their 20-year title draught, with their last triumph coming in 2005.

‘‘Sports for us means a lot. We have invested in volleyball for over forty years. We use the volleyball team as our brand ambassador to tell the world what we do,’’ said Sang.

The Oilers have conquered the continent 6-times, 2005, 2004, 2002, 2001, 1998 and 1995.

Middle blocker Gladys Ekaru will captain the squad, leading a strong lineup featuring Loice Simiyu, the Best Server at the CAVB Zone V Club Championship, and experienced blocker Trizah Atuka.

“We stepped up our preparations. We have had two friendlies, and we still want to have two more that will give us a final gauge of where we are. The girls are in high spirits and are ready to bring back the trophy,’’ stated Omondi.

Team captain Gladys Ekaru, reiterated similar sentiments, emphasizing the team’s determination and confidence.

“Our training has been intense, and the friendly matches have really helped us fine-tune our game. We are fully focused and motivated to give our best and make our fans proud,” she said.

Accompanying the team is referee Agnes Masalange, who will officiate at the championship, further representing Kenya on the continental stage.

With a blend of experience and emerging talent, Kenya Pipeline is determined to make a statement in Abuja.
