Kenya National Police DT SACCO donates Volleyball kits to KAPU Volleyball Team

Nairobi, Kenya – 1st April 2025 | The Kenya Airport Police Unit (KAPU) Volleyball Team, under the leadership of Coach Luke Makuto, has received a significant boost from the Kenya National Police DT SACCO with a donation of top-quality volleyball kits and equipment.

The presentation ceremony, held today, was graced by members of the Board of Directors, including National Chairman David Mategwa, National Vice-Chairman David Kangogo, Hon. Secretary Jeremiah Lekoken, Directors Benjamin Talam, Andrew Koech, John Okumu, and CEO Solomon Angutsa. Also in attendance was Inspector Tabitha Mugo, who lauded the team’s dedication and progress.

Receiving the kits at KAPU Headquarters, Commandant Mr. Bernard Korir expressed gratitude, acknowledging the SACCO’s role in fostering talent and teamwork within the police service.

This support comes at a pivotal moment as KAPU cements its place among Kenya’s volleyball elite. The team has secured a spot in the quarter-finals of both the Kenya Volleyball Federation National League playoffs and the inaugural Kenya Cup Tournament a remarkable achievement in their first season after earning promotion from Division Two to Division One.

Speaking to Afrosports, Head Coach Luke Makuto expressed gratitude for the continued support.

“With the backing of the Commandant’s office, led by AIG Bernard Korir Kiplagat and the Kenya National Police DT SACCO, we are now in a stronger position to compete at the highest level. I am proud of our achievements so far and committed to guiding this team to even greater success.”

Reaffirming the SACCO’s commitment to sports and community engagement, National Chairman David Mategwa highlighted the significance of this support:

“At Kenya National Police DT SACCO, we believe in empowering our members both financially and socially. Sports foster teamwork, discipline, and unity within the service. KAPU Volleyball Team’s success is a testament to dedication, resilience, and the power of proper support. We are proud to stand with them and will continue championing initiatives that uplift our members and the wider community.”

With the support of Kenya National Police DT SACCO, the KAPU Volleyball Team is set for greater success. Their rapid rise from Division Two to national quarter-finalists showcases their determination, resilience, and talent.

As they gear up for the Kenya Volleyball Federation National League playoffs and the Kenya Cup Tournament, they stand stronger than ever.
