Martil, Morocco | Kenya’s men’s and women’s beach volleyball teams will begin their quest for a place at the 2025 FIVB World Beach Volleyball Championships as the Continental Cup Championships get underway today in Morocco.
The six-day event brings together Africa’s top beach volleyball nations, with the top four teams in each gender earning automatic qualification to the World Championships scheduled for November 14–23, 2025, in Australia.
Kenya is represented by two teams in both the men’s and women’s categories, with matches set to begin this afternoon.
In the men’s division, the pair of Jairus Kipkosgei and Brian Melly will take to the sand at 12:00 PM (EAT), while Elphas Makuto and Wilson Waibei are slated to play at 2:00 PM.

In the women’s category, seasoned pair Gaudencia Makokha and Mercy Iminza will open their campaign at 7:00 PM, followed by the promising duo of Sharleen Maywa and Veronica Adhiambo at 9:00 PM.
The Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) has expressed confidence in the teams, citing strong preparations and recent international experience.
“We believe in our players’ readiness and resilience. This is a golden opportunity for Kenya to showcase its potential and qualify for the world stage,” said a KVF official.


The Continental Cup is a crucial step on the road to Australia and also serves as a key milestone for African teams eyeing long-term Olympic and international success.
