The Uganda Corporate League’s 21st season is currently underway, with matches becoming more intense with each outing.
The second outing took place on Sunday, March 26th, 2023, at the old Kampala SS play-ground, with teams battling it out to secure their position in the league.
But the Corporate League is more than just competition. It’s also about the party and fun that accompany the games.
Despite not being the top-performing team, Uganda Breweries Limited knows how to bring the party to the field.
With their enthusiastic fans and players dressed in bright yellow and black fits, their presence is impossible to ignore, making the experience more exciting for everyone involved.
Back to some of the action that transpired on Sunday, Huawei was up against Mogo Loans in a match that saw Mogo Loans emerge victorious with a score of 2-0.
National Water and Sewage Corp. were up against UBOS in a game that ended in a draw with both teams failing to score any goals.
DFCU Bank went up against Post Bank in a nail-biting encounter that ended with DFCU Bank securing a win with a score of 1-0.
Platinum Credit also emerged victorious against DHL International with a score of 2-0, while Petroleum Authority Uganda took down DTB Bank with a score of 1-0.
KCB Bank lost to Housing Finance Bank with a score of 0-1, while Insurance Regulatory Authority suffered a defeat against I&M Bank with a score of 0-4.
Huawei defeated Insurance Regulatory Authority in a close encounter with a score of 1-0, while KCB Bank suffered another defeat, this time against Mogo Loans with a score of 0-1. UBOS emerged victorious against Pepsi with a score of 2-1.
After these intense matches, the standings for the top four teams were updated. Uganda Revenue Authority took the top spot with 16 points after playing six games, followed closely by Housing Finance Bank, MTN Uganda, Centenary Bank, and Graphics Systems, all with 16 points each after playing six games.
In the 35 years and above category, the matches were no less intense. Centenary Bank defeated Dumen Orange with a score of 4-1, while Bank of Africa and Uganda Breweries Limited drew with a score of 1-1.
Chloride Exide suffered a defeat against UETCL with a score of 0-2, while Cipla Chemicals emerged victorious against Coca Cola with a score of 2-0. DTB Bank and Huawei drew with a score of 1-1.
After the second outing, NSSF retained the top spot in the 35 years and above category with 12 points after playing four games, followed closely by Cipla Quality Chemicals, Uganda Breweries Limited, Bank of Africa, Centenary Bank, and Stanbic Bank, all with 11 points each after playing four games.
The current top scorers after the second outing are Muhabuzi Felix of HOA, who scored two goals in February and three goals in March, Wahabu of MTN, who scored four goals in February, and Ignatius of URA and Mutebi of CAA, who each scored four goals in February. Bukenya Vianne of CBA and Kayongo of CBA also made the list with four goals each.
The next outing is scheduled for April, although the exact date and venue are yet to be communicated. However, one thing is certain – the competition will be intense as teams battle it out for the top spots in the league.
