In a recent statement made by Aisha Nalule, the director of the FUFA competitions, teams participating in the Uganda Cup have been urged to prioritize security and maintain discipline in the upcoming games.

The director emphasized that security is paramount and cannot be compromised, especially in the current environment.

Nalule also emphasized the importance of teams using licensed players in the competition.

“We urge the teams to keep discipline as security is paramount, let’s keep the game up as teams are urged to use licenced players, Kisugu were eliminated and won’t feature in the round of 16 after losing a petition against Paidha Black Angels for using unlicensed players.” Nalule said.

She cited the recent case of Kisugu, who were eliminated from the Cup after losing a petition filed against them for using unlicensed players.

“Therefore Paidha Black Angels will take up the chance to play in the round of 16 round.” She added.

This meant that Kisugu would not feature in the round of 16, and Paidha Black Angels would take their place instead.

The statement was made during the round of 16 draws for the Uganda Cup, which were held on Tuesday morning at the FUFA House in Mengo.

The event was attended by various stakeholders in Ugandan football, including sports journalists who have been covering the tournament from the initial round of 64.

It is evident that security and discipline are critical factors that need to be prioritized by all teams participating in the Uganda Cup.

This sentiment was echoed by Nalule, who emphasized that the safety of players, officials, and fans should not be taken for granted.

All eyes on Vipers SC and Wakiso Giants in Wakiso derby for Uganda Cup

With the round of 16 set to kick off soon, all eyes will be on Vipers SC and Wakiso Giants at the Kabaka Kyabagu Stadium, as they battle it out in the Wakiso derby and in the end for a chance to lift the coveted Uganda Cup trophy.

This is a repeat of last season’s Quarterfinals which took place at Wakissha, and saw the Venoms come out victorious with a 3-1 win.

In the round of 16, each team will play a single match and the winner will advance to the next round. If the game ends in a tie, the winner will be determined through a penalty shootout and the team that loses will receive a consolation prize of 3 million shillings.

In the other fixtures of the round, KCCA FC will be taking on Mbarara City at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Police FC will take on Ndejje University at the Kavumba recreation playgrounds and Express FC will be looking to make their mark when they take on Paidha Black Angels at the Wankulukuku Stadium.

Elsewhere, Calvary FC will take on Kitara FC at the Midigo primary school playground, while Adjumani TC FC will face off against Bunyaruguru United in Adjumani.

The other interesting match of the round will be Onduparaka FC taking on either BUL FC or SC Villa at the Green light stadium and lastly, Bright Stars will go head-to-head with Kiyinda Boys at the Kavumba recreation playgrounds.

Overall, the round of 16 promises to be an exciting and action-packed affair, with each team vying for a place in the quarterfinals.

The Uganda Cup is an annual football competition organized by the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) and features all registered football clubs in the country.

The tournament is one of the most prestigious and highly anticipated football events in Uganda and attracts a lot of attention from fans, media, and football stakeholders in the country.

The tournament has been held annually since 1971 and is open to all football clubs in Uganda regardless of their division or status.

The winner of the tournament qualifies for the CAF Confederation Cup, which is a continental club football competition organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
