Ugandan Pro Volleyball sensation, Daudi Okello, has made a triumphant return to the Turkish volleyball scene, signing a one-year contract with Bursa Büyükşehir Belediyespor.

This marks a homecoming for the towering athlete, who stands at an impressive 2.01 meters (6 feet 7 inches) and weighs 92 kilograms (203 pounds).

Okello, born on September 20, 1995, is set to continue his impressive career as an opposite.

In a statement after signing with his new club, Daudi expressed his excitement about returning to Turkey, where he had previously made a significant impact on the volleyball scene.

“Am back to Turkey after four years. My contract is one year, and I look forward to a great performance.” He stated.

Sentiments about his return to Turkey were equally heartfelt.

“Coming back to Turkey, I find nothing but good memories of when I left. Turkey is always home,” he shared, reflecting the strong connection he has with the country and its volleyball community.

Okello’s journey through the international volleyball circuit has seen him traverse the globe, with previous stints in Bulgaria, South Korea, and Indonesia.

Notably, he played for Turkish teams Galatasaray Istanbul, Tokat Belediye Plevnespor, and Spor Toto Spor Kulübü before his recent return.

Bursa Büyükşehir Belediyespor, competing in the AXA Sigorta Efeler League and gearing up for the Balkan Cup, has secured Okello’s services for the forthcoming season.

The team’s roster already includes prominent domestic talents such as Gökhan Gökgöz, Emre Batur, Dmitrii Bahov, Caner Ergül, Emre Berat Fırat, and Fatih Cihan.

The Men’s Balkan Cup, scheduled for October 4-7, will be hosted by Bursa Metropolitan Municipality.

Okello’s team is set to face formidable opponents, including OK Bosna Sarajevo from Bosnia Hersek, OK Univerzitet vo Tetovo SC of Northern Macedonia, KV Peja of Kosovo, Pigasos Polichnis Sports of Greece, and MOK Spartak SC of Serbia.

The competition will unfold in two groups at Bursa TVF Cengiz Göllü Volleyball Hall.

Bursa Metropolitan Municipality will host KV Peja and OK Univerzitet vo Tetovo SC in Group B, while Group A will comprise MOK Spartak SC, Pigasos Polichnis Sports, and OK Bosna Sarajevo.

Following group matches, on October 7, the teams will proceed to the decisive stages.

The third stage will feature teams in third place facing off, teams in second place clashing, and the teams that clinched the top spot vying for the coveted Balkan Cup championship.

A remarkable twist awaits the victors, as the Bursa BBSK team stands to gain entry into the CEV Challenge Cup, cementing their reputation as a force to be reckoned with in the world of volleyball.
