Christian Atsu, has passed away at the age of 31. The news was confirmed by his agent Nana Sechere, who stated that Atsu had been found dead after he went missing following the devastating earthquake in Turkey and Syria on Monday, February 6.

Atsu had a remarkable career in football, with a number of high-profile clubs in Europe. He began his professional career with Porto in 2011, where he spent three seasons, winning two Primeira Liga titles and the Europa League in 2011. He then had a brief loan spell at Rio Ave before moving to England, where he signed for Chelsea in 2013.

At Chelsea, Atsu struggled to make an impact and was loaned out to several clubs, including Vitesse, Everton, Bournemouth, and finally Newcastle United, where he made a permanent move in 2017. At Newcastle, Atsu became a fan favourite and was a key player in the club’s return to the Premier League in 2017-2018.

Atsu was also a regular for the Ghanaian national team, making 62 appearances and scoring 10 goals. He was a key player for Ghana in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, where he was named Player of the Tournament after helping his team reach the final.

Atsu’s most recent club was Hatayspor in Turkey, where he scored a last-minute winning goal just a day before the earthquake that hit the country in January 2023. He had been with the club since August 2022 and had made a significant impact during his short time there.

Atsu’s death has sent shockwaves through the football world, with tributes pouring in from across the globe. He will be remembered as a talented and dedicated footballer who made a significant impact at every club he played for. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and fans during this difficult time.
