Kenya Prisons, placed in Pool A, begin their campaign on Friday afternoon against Rukinzo of Burundi before facing JKT (Tanzania) on Saturday, 11th October at 12:00 PM. The experienced side is using the tournament as a vital build-up ahead of the Kenya Volleyball Federation National League 2025/26 season, which begins next month in Nairobi.
Meanwhile, Chema VC, drawn in Pool C alongside Police Zanzibar and Nyika, open their campaign on Friday at 7:00 PM against Nyika, before returning to action on Saturday morning at 10:00 AM against Police Zanzibar.
The Juja-based side has shown steady growth in recent months through various tournaments, and the Nyerere Cup offers a perfect platform to measure their strength against top regional opponents.
As Chema VC gears up for their opening match against Nyika at the 26th Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Memorial Volleyball Tournament in Dar es Salaam, head coach Jeremiah “Madeni” Mukopi has expressed confidence in his team’s readiness and ambition.
When asked about his main focus going into the tournament and his confidence in the squad’s ability to compete against some of the region’s top clubs, Coach Mukopi was clear and determined.

“First, I target to finish in the top two positions, which is being among the finalists,” said Coach Mukopi. “Having learned great lessons from recent tournaments, I will not leave anything to chance other than aiming for a win in every single match. The players are in good shape to give me these results.”
As the tournament gets underway, excitement is building among Kenyan volleyball fans who are closely following the teams’ progress in Dar es Salaam. Many are already dreaming of an all-Kenyan showdown in the finals.
One fan boldly predicted in a local volleyball WhatsApp group.
“This year’s final will be Chema VC Juja vs Kenya Prisons, let’s wait and see.”
