Lusaka, Zambia | Lieutenant General Geoffrey Choongo Zyeele, Commander Zambia Army, has urged Green Buffaloes Volleyball men and women’s teams to give it their all and bring the Zone Six Championship trophy back into the cabinets at Arakan Barracks.

The CAVB Zone VI Club Championship will run from 9th-22nd December 2025 at the Ngoako Ramatlhodi Sports Complex in Polokwane, Limpopo Province South Africa.

Buffaloes, the four consecutive Zambian champions were back to back winners of the Zone Six Championship in 2022 and 2023, but the trophy slipped off their horns when they lost to Zimbabwe’s UZ Wolves in 2024 in Botswana.

The Commander Zambia Army witnessed the players’ training session at Olympic Youth Development Centre in Lusaka yesterday.

The training was part of the preparatory activities which the Butaah Boys and girls have lined up ahead of the upcoming Confederation of African Volleyball Senior Men and Women Zone Six Championship to be held in Polokwane City, South Africa from 09 to 22 December, 2025.

Addressing the players and the technical bench, Lt Gen Zyeele emphasised the importance of winning the championship, reminding them of their past successes and the need to reclaim their title.

“You were champions back to back, but you slipped up once. I will not allow you to do what you did again. We have invested a lot of money in this team, and you have no other option, but to win,” he said.

Lt Gen Zyeele urged the troops to be focused and determined, saying, discipline is paramount if the teams are to continue succeeding.

“We would rather lose a game than losing discipline. You must leave everything on the court and give it your all if you want to succeed in the championship,” Lt Gen Zyeele said.

Meanwhile, Green Buffaloes Volleyball Club Head Coach, Warrant Officer Class One (WOI) Luckson Mazumbo (Rtd) said the teams are ready to crush any opponent that will come their way.

Green Buffaloes Volleyball Club (both men and women’s teams) are set to travel to South Africa for the Zone Six Championship, which attracts other giant volleyball teams from teams, including UZ Wolves, Highlanders, Black Mambas, Allianca Mozambique, among others.
