Aziz Damani, a leading cricket team in Uganda, has emerged victorious in both the men’s and women’s leagues, sweeping all team awards for the 2022 season.
The team, which has five teams competing in Uganda’s local leagues, claimed three trophies, including the senior men’s team, which won its fifth consecutive title.
The senior men’s team finished the season unbeaten in the top-flight league, but had to settle for dropping points in a game declared a no-result against Wanderers.
Despite a strong challenge from newly-promoted Ceylon Lions, Aziz Damani secured the top spot.
In the men’s Division 2, Aziz Damani Development dominated the competition, earning themselves promotion to the top flight. Nyakasura also gained promotion as the second side from the second division.
In the women’s division, Aziz Damani secured their fourth 40-over league title in a row without dropping a point.
The team’s return of Immaculate Nakisuyi, Proscovia Alako, and Stephanie Nampiina gave an already strong side more firepower as they kept off the challenge of Wanderers and Olila High.
Jinja SSS, under the guidance of coach Habib Mugalula, clinched the Div 2 title and promotion to the top flight, with Aziz Damani Development settling for second place.
