Uganda ladies Golf team finished sixth with a total 480 gross at the All Africa Challenge Trophy, -Golf Tournament- in Tanzania at the Gymkhana Club, Dar es Salaam.
The tournament brought close upto 20 National Ladies Golf teams across Africa of which South Africa finished top with a total 444 gross, five strokes better than Morocco who came second with 449 gross.
The pearl was represented by professionals Peace Kabasweka, Martha Babirye, and Meron Kyomugisha at the prestigious event.
Team captain Kabasweka finished ninth in the individual scores after a tough start on day one and two with 81 strokes, but managed to shrink down the count to 75 on final day, best feat for the team.
Overall individual best was Moroccan Rich Intisar who posted a steady development from 76 on game day one, 74 on day two and climaxed with 70 on the final day to top the chart ahead of South Africa’s Bobbi Brown and Kenyan Naomi Wafula who finished second and third with a total 221, and 222, respectively.
Martha Babirye finished 19th despite tieing at 246 gross with Ghanaian Constance Awuni and Lea Ndjobouela from Gabon. Awuni came 18th while Lea finished 20th after the final day.
Ugandan rookie and national team debutant Meron Kyomugisha put up an applaudable performance that culminated with finishing 22nd on the chart of over 56 pro-golfers.
She tallied 88 on day one, 81 on day two and 80 on final day, which indicates a confidence boost.
The team departed on the 4th -Sunday morning- aboard Uganda airlines and is hoped to touch base when they return on the 14th after the Tanzania Ladies Open tournament in which they will participate.
The best feat for Uganda at the ACCT was in 2018 when Eva Magala attained the best individual score for the team to finish fourth at the Achimota Golf Club in Ghana.

The idea of the AACT was mooted by Tessa Covell, the then President of the Zambia Ladies Golf Union, with the reasoning that none of the African countries were realistically able to compete in the World Championships, their golfing standards simply needed a home-grown training ground, rotating within the geographical area.
