Abuja, Nigeria – 4th April 2025 | Al Ahly, Zamalek and Kenya Pipeline all picked vital wins to set the tone for their quest for glory at the 2025 Women’s African Club Championship in Abuja, Nigeria.

Ahly beat Soccocim in straight set
Record holders Ahly earned a convincing straight set win (25-10. 25-14, 25-6) over Soccocim of Senegal in Pool C.

The Egyptians came out firing from the first point and dominated the game throughout ensuring Ahly easily won with multiple kills. Soccocim struggled with the pace and strength of attack and found it difficult to get the ball back, losing the 1st set 25-10, and the 2nd set 25-14.
Ahly came back even stronger in the 3rd set, finally sealing the set 25-6.
Chief of Naval Staff pick comfortable win over Spiking Stars
Nigeria’s CNS recorded a nice win over newbies Spiking Stars of Botswana 3-0 (25-22, 25-21, 25-8) in Pool B on Friday in the ongoing CAVB Women’s African Volleyball Club Championship.
CNS completely controlled the game. They capitalized on SSV lack of experience and over-powered them with hitting to take the first set 25-22.

CNS, had the crowd’s support and earned loud cheers for every point they won. They showed their determination in the 2nd set taking some critical points, much to the crowd’s delight winning 25-21.
CNS maintained their authority in the 3rd set finding gaps in their opponent’s defence. They gave away a few points on their serve. It was a spirited play from SSV, but they lost the 3rd set 25-8.
Prisons fall short in Straight Sets to Zamalek
Defending champions Zamalek look well for title defense with a comfortable 3-0 (25-23, 25-17, 25-23) win over Kenya Prisons in Pool B.

Zamalek and Prisons are two of the top female teams and showed it in this competitive match.
Both teams tested each other out in the first set trying to find spaces in the back court and scoring with powerful cross court hits. The first set was neck and neck until Zamalek ran away with it, winning the set 25-23.
The second set was not of a big trouble for the reigning champions killing it at 25-17.
This was a crucial set for Prisons if they were to remain in the game. Zamalek put the Kenyans on the back foot, finally secured the set 25-23.
Litto overpowers Descartes in three straight sets to register first win
It was all smile for Litto volleyball club of Cameroun after their resounding 3-0 (25-18, 25-14, 25-22) win over Descartes of Ivory Coast in Pool D.

LTV got off to a good start with two spikes, but OMD come back with some great defensive work to keep them in the set. The Cameroonians demonstrated their front court height advantage and strength. Not to be outdone, the Ivorians returned the favour, but it was not enough as LTV extended the gap in the later stages of the set to win 25-18.
LTV took a quick lead in the second set and prevented OMD getting into the game with solid blocking to ensure they dominated this set winning 25-14.
Descartes opened the third set with a great cross court hit. Litto came back quickly with blocks and powerful spikes. It was a very competitive set until LTV pulled away again just to win the set 25-22.
Kenya Commercial Bank outshine La Loi of Congo DR
2022 winners, Kenya Commercial Bank started the 2025 edition with a 3-0 (25-15, 25-18, 25-12) victory against La Loi of Congo DR in Pool C.
Typical big hits from VLL put them in a slight lead. However, KCB quickly reasserted themselves as lack of enthusiasm and poor communication resulted in VLL falling back to KCB to lost 1st set 25-15.

It was a fight for the 2nd set with both teams fully engaged. It was point for point until an unforced hitting error from VLL gave KCB the lead.
The game continued with some tempo but KCB showed the most determination and closed the set out 25-18.
KCB maintained their momentum in the 3rd set to lead 16-7. La Loi looked flat. Miscommunication lost them another point and KCB took advantage to nail the set 25-12.
Kenya Pipeline earn comfortable win against Rwanda Police
Resolute Kenya Pipeline comfortably register victory in their opening match against Rwanda Police in a 3-1 (25-10, 25-19, 21-25, 25-18) in Pool D.

KPC started off with a bang and were winning 8-3, before Police started engaging. A few spikes and volleying the ball to gaps at the back of the court won Police points, however KPC were comfortably in control and won the set 25-10.
Errors from Police allowed KPC to extend their points and made it difficult for Police to come back shutting down Police with excellent blocks. A run of points brought Police back into the set, but the KPC lead was too much and in the end the Rwandans succumbed 19-25.
In a repeat pattern of the earlier sets, KPC established an early lead 9-3 and then extended it significantly. Police came back late in the set with a number of points and took the third set 25-21.
It was all to play in the fourth set. KPC want to win, Police fighting to force to deciding set, it was KPC that ran way with the game with a 25-18
