The Victoria Pearls had a tough day 1 in Namibia losing both games to hosts Namibia and Zimbabwe. In the 1st game they had put pressure on the hosts restricting them to just 90/9 from their two overs Evelyn Anyipo (3/18) and Captain Concy Aweko (2/19) doing the hard work with the ball. However, the ladies failed to pace their chase failing to keep up with the asking rate as they fell short by 12 runs.

In the second game the Lady Chevrons of Zimbabwe elected to bat 1st but again a strong start with the ball from the Victoria Pearls made sure the run scoring wasn’t easy. The Captain Concy Aweko (3/10) and her vice Janet Mbabazi (4/19) doing the hard work with the ball. In the chase Uganda failed to pace the chase with only Janet Mbabazi (21) in the top order with double figures and only an effort from the tail Phiona Kulume (15) and Evelyn Anyipo (17) ensured that Uganda got close to the total. Zimbabwe getting over the line by 8 runs.

The girls will be back in action this afternoon as they take on the Lady Chevrons of Zimbabwe.
