Nairobi, Kenya | The Kenya Volleyball Federation’s Nyandarua Branch hosted a highly successful Ladies Tournament in Ol Kalou over the weekend, aiming to spearhead the fight against gender violence.

The tournament, which brought together 20 ladies’ teams from across the county, was sponsored by the County Women’s Representative, Hon. Faith Wairimu Gitau, CBS, in collaboration with the National Gender Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF).

In her keynote address, Hon. Faith Gitau thanked the KVF National and Branch for their support of the event. She appealed for an end to violence against both genders and urged residents to shun violence as a way of resolving domestic disagreements. Hon. Gitau, who is the Captain of the National Assembly Volleyball Team, said her office will continue to champion the safeguarding of women and girls.

The KVF President, Charles Nyaberi, thanked Hon. Gitau and her office for substantively sponsoring the tournament and for leading the promotion of the Gender Affirmative Action agenda. He affirmed KVF’s commitment to stamping out gender violence and promoting the equality, security, and progress of women and girls. He also commended the MP for supporting the growth of volleyball in Nyandarua, highlighting the emergence and progress of the Nyandarua Young Spikers the only KVF National Ladies League team from outside Nairobi.

All teams were provided with colourful, trendy, branded uniforms, balls, and nets. Winners were awarded trophies and cash prizes.
