Kampala, Uganda | Uganda Rugby Cranes International, Micheal Wokorach will captain Uganda All Stars against the Irish Blackrock Rugby in the latter tour of the Pearl of Africa. The Irish Blackrock Rugby team will be visiting Uganda for a thrilling tour, featuring a highly anticipated match against the Uganda All Stars. The game will take place on August 16, 2025, at Kyadondo Rugby Ground.

“It’s a great opportunity to lead the All Stars team, I am confident we shall have the best 25 players for the game, this will be a combination of 7’s, 15’s and some players from the Rugby Africa Cup squad”. Micheal Workorach, Captain Uganda All Stars said.

The Irish Blackrock team has planned a series of community outreach activities. On August 18, 2025, the team will visit the Spire School for the Blind and participate in the Prisons Rugby Project in Jinja. The following day, August 19, 2025, they will conduct a coaching session with schools in Kakira.

The tour will culminate in a Legacy Day on August 21, 2025, in Kakira, where the team will leave a lasting impact on the community. The tour will conclude with a fun-filled Fan Rugby 7s event in Kakira.

This tour is a fantastic opportunity for rugby enthusiasts in Uganda to witness world-class rugby, while also promoting the values of teamwork, discipline, and community engagement.

Mr. Mich Drawn- President of Blackrock:

“We’re electrified about our Club’s August tour to Uganda – a bold venture that’s years in the making! Since our last official tour in 2001, we’ve been itching to get back out there. This trip is a reunion of sorts, revisiting East Africa for the first time since 1971, a journey that holds treasured memories for many of our members. With over 50 of us traveling across all teams, we’re bringing more than just our A-game – we’re bringing a piece of Ireland’s rugby heart. A key part of our mission is giving back; we’re partnering with Irish charities to run training sessions in local schools, donating gear to keep the next gen buzzing about rugby, and visiting a Ugandan prison to share hope and camaraderie with the inmates. We’ll also be honored guests at an official function at the Irish Embassy, underscoring the tour’s significance to our diplomatic friends in Uganda. None of this would be possible without the kindness of our sponsors, donors, and event supporters – we’re deeply grateful for their generosity. This tour is more than just a trip; it’s a testament to the power of community and rugby’s universal language.”

Tour Schedule:

  • August 16, 2025: Irish Blackrock vs. Uganda All Stars at Kyadondo Rugby Ground
  • August 18, 2025: Outreach at Spire School for the Blind and Prisons Rugby Project in Jinja
  • August 19, 2025: Coaching session with Kakira schools
