Kigali, Rwanda – 20 June 2025 | Rwandan giants APR Men’s Team are out of the 2025 Genocide Memorial Volleyball Tournament after suffering two straight losses in Pool D. APR fell in consecutive sets to Chazpir VC (Uganda) before being edged out by Chema VC Juja (Kenya), ending their quarterfinal hopes.
In contrast, Chema VC impressed with their fearless play, earning a place in the knockouts. Chema VC Juja, a relatively new force in regional volleyball, stunned the home crowd with their fearless performance. Their win over APR not only sent shockwaves across the tournament but also signalled a new wave of Kenyan volleyball powerhouses on the rise.
APR’s early exit marks one of the biggest surprises of this year’s tournament.
“This was not our expected outcome. We gave it our best, but the teams we faced were sharp and hungry,” said a disappointed APR player after the match.
Kenya Ports Authority men’s volleyball team (KPA) dominated Pool B and cruised into the quarterfinals alongside REG, Kepler, and Gisagara VC.
On the women’s side, APR Women qualified from Pool A and will face KCB Nkumba. Other key matchups include RRA vs. Ndejje, Police vs Vision (UG), and Kepler vs. Sikri.
With the group stages concluded, attention now shifts to the quarterfinals, set to take place at Petit Stade Amahoro and NPC Gymnasium on Saturday. The stage is set for fierce battles as clubs fight for a spot in the semifinals.
