Nairobi, Kenya – 31st March 2025 | The reigning Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) National League champions and last year’s bronze medalists at the CAVB African Men’s Club Championship, Kenya Prisons Men’s Volleyball Team, are in high spirits as they intensify their preparations for the upcoming continental tournament in Libya next month from 17th April to April 30th,2025.
Head coach Denis Mokua has expressed optimism about the team’s readiness, emphasizing their focus on achieving even better results than their previous performance.
“Preparations are going well, and we are working towards securing a stronger finish than last year’s bronze medal,” Mokua stated confidently.
However, the team faces a significant challenge following the absence of two key players, Elphas Makuto and Denis Esokon. Their departure has created gaps in the squad, but Mokua remains positive about the team’s adaptability and transition.
“Of course, their absence has been a setback, but I am proud of the effort my players have put in to ensure those gaps are well filled. I trust them to step up, and I also see this as a great opportunity for the young players who have joined the team to prove their worth. This is crucial for the future of our team and for Kenyan volleyball as a whole,” he added.

Kenya Prisons is determined to make a strong impact in the championship, building on its rich history in African volleyball. The squad’s commitment and resilience in training will be key in their quest to bring home the coveted title.
The team will be joined by former Champions General Service Unit and the Kenya Ports Authority Volleyball Team, adding further strength to Kenya’s representation at the continental championship in Libya.
