Nairobi, Kenya – 27th March 2025 | Africa’s fastest man, Ferdinand Omanyala (Kenya’s 100m African record holder 9.77), will face off against Uganda’s finest sprinters; Aboda Emmanuel, Adome Pius (10.42), Musa Isabirye (10.78), Solomon Obuto(10.80), and Okot Benson (10.20) in the 100m showdown at the Nelson Mandela National Stadium Namboole on 29th Saturday 2025.

Omanyala and 12 other Kenyan Athletes will compete in the Uganda Athletics Federation’s 3rd National trials in Kampala.

Renovation works at major Stadiums in Nairobi, including Kasarani and Nyayo, have forced most Kenyan Athletes to seek trials across borders.

Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania are upgrading their stadia ahead of the AFCON 2027, which will be hosted by the three East African nations.

Besides the elite match-up, athletes from clubs, schools, universities, and Uganda Athletics Federation member Associations will use the meet to assess their progress and also seek qualifications for international competitions.

South Sudan, Rwanda, and Burundi are the other countries expected to compete in the one-day event.

“Having athletes from across the region, including Africa’s fastest sprinter Ferdinand Omanyala, raises the quality of competition. With Omanyala participating, there’s a high chance that he will break the Namboole Stadium record, a record he already holds. It also pushes our elite sprinters to step up and compete against a world-class icon,” Muhammad Abdallah told wallnetnews in Kampala.
