Baby Cricket Cranes, Uganda’s U-19 Cricket Team, will be travel to Sanjay Farm in India for a two weeks training camp as part of their preparations for the U-19 World Cup Qualifiers in Tanzania.

The travelling squad will consist of 16 players, who have been undergoing training since the start of 2023 under the guidance of head coach Isaneez Emmanuel.

Among the 16 players include seven who were part of the 2022 U-19 World Cup in West Indies, where Uganda finished in 13th position.

The seven are:- Fahad Mutagana, Christopher Kidega, Sowobi Yunusi, Omara Ronald,Asaba Brian, and Joseph Baguma.

The training camp will last from May 13th -25th and the team will play six 50-over games and one T20 match against select sides organized by Sanjay.

Also during their camp, the team will get a chance to work with Hemal Vatekar, a specialized battling coach who will advise both the players and the technical team on how to better improve their skills.

“We would like to thank Sanjay Farm for inviting us and this is a true commitment to their promise to help us improve our development teams. Sanjay Farm has offered to look after all the team expenses on the trip including accommodation, meals, facilities, and playing uniforms for our boys. This tour should help not just our players but also our technical team to better prepare the boys ahead of the qualifiers in July in Tanzania” Joshua Mwanja, Operations Manager of Uganda Cricket Association

“The U-19 boys are preparing for the U-19 boys Cricket World Cup Qualifiers in Tanzania in July so we have been taking them through physical, technical, tactical, and mental aspects that will help the process of preparation. The trip to India is part of our warm-up engagements which involves playing against strong youth in Gujarati at Sanjay Farm so that we gain the necessary experience we need before July, India is known for producing quality spinners in the game of cricket so this is a good platform for our boys to learn more from them while they play against them, of course, we are also looking at developing the competitive mindset and positive smart cricket so we shall use this opportunity given to exercise what we need as a team” U-19 Head Coach Emmanuel Isaneez

Uganda has qualified for three editions (2004, 2006, and 2022) of the U-19 World Cup and they will be seeking to make it back to back qualification in Tanzania from July 23rd-29th.
