The Victoria Pearls secured a narrow three-run victory against hosts Namibia in the Capricorn Eagles Quadrangular Series match on Tuesday evening.

Opting to bat first, Uganda posted a total of 93 runs for the loss of five wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

Immaculate Nakisuuyi remained unbeaten at 26 runs while Stephanie Nampiina scored a quickfire 22 off just 12 deliveries.

Kayleen Green was the pick of the bowlers for Namibia, claiming three wickets for 22 runs in her four overs.

In their innings, Namibia fell short by just three runs as they could only manage to score 90 runs for the loss of four wickets in their 20 overs.

Yasmeen Khan was the top scorer for Namibia, remaining unbeaten on 40 runs off 52 balls.

Opening bowler Irene Alumo was the most successful pitcher for Uganda, as She delivered three overs, conceded only 8 runs, and took 2 wickets in the 2nd and 10th overs. She played a key role in limiting the opposition’s run rate to 4.55.

Earlier, Uganda had gotten off to a poor start as they lost Kevin Awino in the fifth over for just two runs.

However, Proscovia Alako (14) and Janet Mbabazi (18) steadied the innings with a 29-run partnership. Later, Stephanie Nampiina’s explosive cameo helped Uganda cross the 90-run mark.

In the chase, Namibia was shaky in the start, losing Sunè Wittmann in the third over for just five runs.

Although Yasmeen Khan and Adri Van Der Merwe (12) put up a 19-run partnership, Namibia kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

Kayleen Green remained unbeaten on 11 runs, but it was not enough to take Namibia over the line.

Stephanie Nampiina was named the Player of the Match for her all-round performance with the bat and ball.

She scored 22 runs off 12 balls, including two sixes. However, she got caught in the next ball after hitting the second six, which was a significant setback for the team.

Collectively, the Victoria Pearls have climbed two places in the ICC T20 rankings, following their triumphant display in these last two series (Victoria and Capricorn series).

The team can now boast of improved bragging rights, as they sit comfortably in 19th place, a significant jump from their previous ranking of 21st.
