Pepsi University Football League

12th April 2022

Makerere University vs YMCA

3pm, Makerere

Anticipation is high as Makerere University returns to the Pepsi University Football League after a 4 year absence occasioned by their fans indiscipline.

The University Football league is Uganda’s premier University Football competition in its 10th Edition.

Speaking ahead of the game, Makerere University Sports Tutor Kabenge Peninah said that the players and fans are excited to be back in the league and are looking forward to a great season.

“We are excited to be back after a long time. The players and fans have been missing the action and excitement of the University Football League and we believe that this time round we are here to stay,” Kabenge said.

Makerere University coach, Kasozi William said the team is in very good shape and ready for the game.

“As a team we are ready for the game. Everyone is good shape and we are just waiting to play,” Kasozi said.

“Everyone is excited and discipline will be key both on and off the pitch if we are to have a successful campaign this season. We have what it takes to go all the way but it shall require discipline on and off the pitch,” Kasozi added.

On their part YMCA are also ready for the game. Although YMCA have made it to the quarter-finals for the last three consecutive seasons, coach Ssembatya Muhamad knows it will not be easy this time round.

“It will not be easy playing away at Makerere. We know it will be a tough atmosphere but our focus will be on the pitch and we believe we shall come away with all three points,” Ssembatya said.
