Rwanda, Kenya, and South Sudan will battle for top honors at the Genocide Memorial tournament that serves off this morning in Kigali.
APR, Ruhango, RRA, IPRC Kigali, Police, and IPRC Huye are representing Rwanda women while Nemostars and Djuba are outsiders from Uganda and South Sudan respectively.
REG, IPRC Ngoma, GVC, IPRC Musanze, Police, APR, Kirehe, and KVC lead the home side in the men’s category, while Nemostars, Sky, KAVC are from Uganda alongside South Sudan side Djuba.
Kenya and Burundi miss out due to domestic league engagements.
The two-day event will be held on various grounds in Kigali with the finals scheduled for the BK Arena on Sunday.


Matches serve off at 9 am local time.
The annual tournament is organized in honor of volleyball players, coaches, administrators, and fans who were killed during the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.
The Genocide Memorial Volleyball tournament was initiated by former Rwanda international Antoine Sebalinda in 1995 after his brother Dominique Sebalinda was killed during Genocide, alongside other national team players.
The volleyball fraternity counts over 50 members who lost their lives during the genocide against Tutsi in 1994.
REG and APR will be looking to defend the title they won in 2022 in their respective men’s and women’s categories.
