17 countries for All Africa Senior Badminton Championships in Kampala

Event: All Africa Senior Championships (AASC)
Dates: 14th – 20th February 2022
Venue: Lugogo Indoor Stadium, Kampala

Egypt, Algeria and South Africa will lock horns for honors at the 2022 All Africa Senior Championships n Kampala.

Host Uganda will look to destabilize the status quo of the top three, Uganda lies 4th behind Egypt, Algeria and South Africa.

The 2021 version was also help in Kampala at the same Venue and Egypt topped the medal tally then.

Organizers were boosted by local Tyre Distributor City Tyres this week in the run up to the 14th – 20th February 2022 at the Lugogo Indoor Stadium in Kampala, Uganda.

City Tyres has purchased trophies for several winners that will be given away, as well as face-lifting the interior of Lugogo Arena.

41 accolades are set to be dished out to respective winners.

Uganda Badminton Association’s CEO Simon Mugabi lauded City Tyres for the partnership and revealed that the event will be played by both men (Thomas) and women (Uber) with 15 men’s and 12 women’s entries registered.

Host Uganda will be represented by a team of 12 players, six female and six males, that is; Women; Husina Kobugabe (C), Tracy Naluwooza, Awori Brendah, Wanyana Sharifah, Samusha Rajab, Fadhila Shamika. and Men: Wanagalya Israel(C), Atama Friday, Muyanja Amos, Mwambu Kenneth, Makande Paul and Kasirye Brian.

The showpiece is a qualifier for the May 2022 World Badminton Championship set to be held in Bangkok Thailand.

Team events will run from Monday 14th to Wednesday 16th while individuals events will be happening from Thursday 17th to Sunday 20th, draws will be conducted on Sunday, 13th 2022.

DR Congo, Cameroon, Egypt, Botswana, Benin, Algeria, Ghana, Zambia, Mauritius, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Madagascar and hosts Uganda have confirmed participation.
